‘Youth in Goa addicted to online gambling’ – Herald Goa

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday assured to take necessary action against online gaming and gambling.
The assurance came after Congress MLA Sankalp Amonkar raised the issue in the Assembly during Zero Hour, demanding a ban on online games like Rummy Circle.
Amonkar said that many youth have gotten addicted to Rummy Circle and are losing huge monies. “We will take action as required. I will issue necessary instructions,” Sawant said. Earlier, Amonkar said that States like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Odisha and Nagaland have banned online gambling. "Rummy, three cards, pokers, etc are dangerous. These are easily accessible for youth. They are addicted to these games,” the Mormugao MLA said.  He said that unemployed youth and college students fall prey to these games. "One can start playing these games at Rs 5 to the range of Rs 10,000. Even one can extend the limit above Rs 40,000 per day. It is a complete scam,” Amonkar said.
