Jasprit Bumrah is playing his first match of IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians on Monday (April 7) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He was introduced to the attack on the fourth over of the match, and after conceding one run on the first ball, he faced Virat Kohli on the second ball, but on that, the right-handed batter from Delhi hammered him for a big six.

Kohli came out to open the innings for RCB on Monday, and by the end of eight overs, he was batting on 44 runs from 27 balls. So far, Kohli has hammered six fours and one six for the Rajat Patidar-led side.
Before playing a big shot against the Ahmedabad-born pacer, who was retained for Rs 18 crore by Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction, Kohli entered his name in the history books. He hammered Trent Boult for a boundary on the last ball of the third over, and that four helped him cross the 13,000-run mark in T20s.
He is the first Indian and overall fifth batter in the world to score 13,000 runs in T20s.

Former West Indies captain and legendary opening batter Chris Gayle holds the world record for scoring the most runs in T20s. During his 17-year-long career, Gayle played for over two dozen teams and scored 14,562 runs in 463 runs. In the list of leading run-scorers, he is followed by England’s Alex Hales (13,610 runs), Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (13,557 runs) and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard (13,537 runs).

Kohli made his T20 debut on April 3, 2007, for his domestic side Delhi against Himachal Pradesh and since then has played 403 matches, in which, with the help of nine centuries and 98 fifties, he has scored 13,027 runs.
Kohli has scored 8145 runs in 256 IPL matches for the Bengaluru-based franchise, and he also has 424 runs to his name in 15 Champions League matches as an RCB player.
