New Delhi: The unique game of lottery – Shillong Teer – is organised in Meghalaya every day. The lottery game is played at the Shillong Polo Stadium in the state. It is organised by Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA). The lottery game is based on archery and the winning players get financial rewards. The Shillong Teer is governed by rules framed under the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act.
Meghalaya is one of the 13 states that allow lotteries. The other states are West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Punjab, Mizoram, Kerala, Manipur, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Goa.
The Shillong Teer winners are decided on the basis of the number of arrows shot in a particular round. If a participant hits the most arrows at a pre-designated target within a five-minute timeframe, he or she will be declared winner. Participants get 50 arrows at the beginning of the game.
The results are released every day in two parts. Tickets of Shillong Teer are available at 5,000 designated counters across Meghalaya. Participants can check the lucky number for the first and second rounds here.
