Rohit Sharma is handling tough questions by journalists for a long time but the most recent one surprised him. He failed to score runs against New Zealand and Australia in Test matches but the veteran has failed to improve his performances.
In a press conference organized to announce the teams for the ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, he hit out at a reporter for questioning about the new guidelines issued by the BCCI, saying that the Indian cricket board hasn’t announced anything officially.
In the same presser, he was caught discussing about the new family stay rule with the chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Rohit was not aware that the mic was on.
In a press conference on the eve of the first ODI against England in Nagpur, a reporter highlighted Rohit’s form.
Reporter: “Hi, Rohit. You are nicknamed Hitman but you haven’t score runs in Test cricket. Are you confident going into a white-ball format?”
Rohit: What kind of question is that? This is a different format. I have seen ups and downs throughout my career and this is not something new. I am not going to dwell on the past as every series is a fresh series. It is better to concentrate on the upcoming matches.”
Rohit refused to opine on his future after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. “Reports about my future have been going on but I am not here to clarify those stories.”
Rohit will lead India in a three-match ODI series.
