After consecutive failures in the first three matches, Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal finally looked in good touch as the young batter went on to smash his first fifty in IPL 2025 in a match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh. The left-handed batter played a knock of 67(45)  runs as RR posted 205/5 and defended it succesfully to register second  consecutive win of the season. With this, PBKS were also handed their first defeat, coming after back-to-back wins in the first two matches. 
Talking about the match, coming the bat first after losing the toss, RR got a great start as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson put up an opening partnership of 89 runs in 10.2 overs. Samson got out after scoring 38(26) hitting six boundaries, while Jaiswal scored 67 runs off 45 balls hitting three fours and five sixes. After that, Riyan Parag took charge of the innings as he remained unbeaten on 43* runs off 25 balls with three fours and three sixes. Apart from that, Shimron Hetmyer also scored a quickfire 20(12) runs while Dhurv Jurel gave finishing touches with 13*(5) runs as RR posted a total of 205 runs losing five wickets in their 20 overs. For PBKS, Lockie Ferguson took two wickets, while Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh scalped a wicket each.


Chasing the winning target, PBKS got a disastrous start as Jofra Archer struck on the very first ball to dismiss Priyansh Arya. After that, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer smashed two boundaries but couldn’t play for long as he was dismissed on the last ball of the over, with Jofra taking two wickets in the first over. Prabhsimran Singh and Marcus Stoinis also couldn’t stay at the crease for longer as PBKS were reduced to 43/4 in 6.2 overs. After that, Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell added 88 runs for the fifth wicket. Maxwell got out after scoring 30 runs off 21 balls while Wadhera top scored with 62 runs off 41 balls hitting four fours and three sixes.
However, it didn’t help PBKS much as they were reduced to 155 runss losing nine wickets at the end of their 20 overs. For RR, Jofra Archer registered figures of 3/25. Apart from that, Sandeep Sharma and Maheesh Theekshana scalped two wickets while Kumar Kartikeya and Wanindu Hasaranga scalped a wicket each.
