Ferguson with his last over. Hetmyer defends one to short midwicket for one. Parag keen on a second, sent back, just manages to make it back. Parag once again too early into his attempted pull. Parag misses his attempted cut outside off, Prabhsimran sloppy in conceding a bye. Wide given. Six!!! Short of a length on the body, Hetmyer swivel pulls it to Chahal at deep fine, makes a mess of it and it falls across the boundary for six.
Arshdeep back into the attack. Three dots to start the over. Parag looks to slap the latest ball over midwicket, misses. Short ball, misses his pull again. Four dots. Four!! Full and wide this time, Riyan edges it over the short third fielder and finds the fence. Four!! Full and straight, gets his timing right this time to punch it down the ground for four.
Marco Jansen back. Yorker on legstump to Parag, dug out to point for a single. Jansen surprises Rana with a short ball, Rana lets it go. WICKET!! Width this time, invites Rana to go over the offside. Not enough distance on the shot, holes out to the offside sweeper.
Nitish Rana c Maxwell b Marco Jansen 12(7)
Shimron Hetmyer in at 5. Short of a length on the body, defended by Hetmyer. Four!! Hetmyer pulls the last ball of the over to the fence to get off the mark.
Parag gets an outside edge as he looks to whip one off his pads, flies through to deep third for a single. WICKET!! Ferguson with the slower one that beats Jaiswal’s bat swing and cleans up the offstump.
Jaiswal b Ferguson 67(45)

Chahal with his third. Parag punches a full ball through long off for a single. Jaiswal punches a short of a length delivery to long on for one. Turn from the legstump, Parag edges it towards point. No run. Four!! Overpitched outside off, lofted straight down the ground for a boundary. Fifty for Jaiswal with the boundary. Six!! Jaiswal picks the bones out of the slog, deposits the ball into the stands. Expensive over at the end.
Ferguson with his second over. Four!! Overpitched slower ball, driven through extra cover for a boundary. WICKET!! Samson lofts a full length straight to the hands of mid off. Pace on this time, a little too quick for Samson.
Samson c Shreyas Iyer b Ferguson 38(26)
Riyan Parag in at 3. Edges his first ball to short third for a single. Full outside off, Jaiswal misses his slash. Picks up a single to long off. Quick on the pads, flicked fine but deep fne leg keeps it to one.
Stoinis. Not a lot of boundaries since PowerPlay but Samson and Jaiswal are making sure the dot balls don’t pile up. Jaiswal tries to ramp but doesn’t connect well and can only take a single. Six runs from the over.
Chahal. Wide down the leg and Prabhsimran fails to grab it; five wides. Plenty of singles around the ground. 10 runs from the over.
Marcus Stoinis now. Isn’t a fully flat surface to be aggressive on each delivery. Four! Samson goes on backfoot and drives the ball straight down the ground. Seven runs from the over.
Yuzvendra Chahal is brought in. Four! Samson pulls the ball towards midwicket. Five singles more in that over.
Glenn Maxwell into the attack. Samson punches the ball towards covers for four! A good over to the end PowerPlay for Punjab, just six came from the over.
Lockie Ferguson into the attack. Squares up Samson off the first ball. Jaiswal continues his party as he goes on backfoot and slogs the ball over long on for a six. Jaiswal drives and Maxwell celebrates like he has taken a catch.
Jansen. Samson pushes the ball past mid on for four! Bouncer to Jaiswal and he upper cuts over keeper for SIX. SIX! Clears leg and launches the ball over midwicket region.
Arshdeep. Jaiswal makes room and hits over the top of extra cover fielder, gets two runs. Jaiswal chips the ball JUST over mid on. A desperate jump by Shreyas there but couldn’t get near the ball. This time Jaiswal times the ball and goes well over mid on and finds the fence. Eight runs from the over.
Marco Jansen from the other end. Pace and bounce for Jansen! So far, so good by him; just two from the over off first five balls. Jaiswal takes a single off the last ball to make it three from the over.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson open the innings. Arshdeep Singh with the new ball.
Jaiswal on strike, Arshdeep swings away from the left hander and it’s a wide to start with. Jaiswal is off the mark with a single. Samson is off the mark with a four. Pulls it towards fine leg. He pushes the ball towards midwicket and runs three. 10 runs from the over.

Last result – Punjab Kings won by five wickets (Guwahati, 2024)
Punjab Kings, after rollicking victories away in Ahmedabad and Lucknow, is set to don the role of a host for the first time in IPL 2025.
Saturday’s fixture against the Rajasthan Royals is also a good opportunity for the in-form team to snap its four-match winless run at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium.
After the 11-run win over Gujarat Titans in a run feast, PBKS hunted down Lucknow Super Giants’ 171 in a canter. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (149 runs at a strike rate of 206.94) has been at the forefront of Kings’ charge with the bat.
The team’s astute use of the Impact Player rule (V. Vyshak vs GT and Nehal Wadhera vs LSG) has also been praiseworthy.
