Akash Deep has joined the Lucknow Super Giants squad after missing out on the first three matches due to injury concerns. Here’s what he said ahead of the game against Mumbai Indians.
“I feel the first match is very important for me. I have played one practice match but after a two to three-month gap, you don’t get the confidence until you play the match.”
The surface at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow is known for its balanced nature, offering assistance to both batters and bowlers. Pacers are likely to get some movement off the seam early on in the innings. However, as the match progresses, the pitch tends to slow down, bringing spinners into play.
After the most recent IPL 2025 fixture at this venue, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan slammed the pitch for not suiting the home side’s strengths. It will be interesting to see how the surface will play up tonight. Teams winning the toss will look to bat first in order to capitalise on the better batting conditions early on.
Lucknow hold a strong advantage, having won five of their six encounters against Mumbai so far. Will Lucknow win again today?

LSG vs MI LIVE Score, IPL 2025: It’s a battle between two teams from the bottom half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday (4 April). Both LSG and MI had made a sedate start despite having some of the biggest names in their squads.
Lucknow are captained by IPL’s most expensive player of all time, Rishabh Pant, while Mumbai have Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. But both teams have lost two out their three matches so far in IPL 2025 with the batting form of the star players being a concern.
Pant has only scored 17 runs so far while Rohit has 21. Both the cricketers will be in focus as the teams look to revive their fortunes.
MI enter the match with a solid eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders earlier this week, while LSG lost at home to Punjab Kings a few days back. LSG mentor Zaheer Khan was livid with the pitch and there are reports that the game will be played on black-spoil pitch, which will assist spinners.
The LSG vs NI match will be played on Friday (4 April) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The match will start at 7.30 PM IST and toss will take place at 7 PM IST.
