Calangute: Three persons from Gujarat were caught red-handed at Sangolda while accepting online bets on the Indian Premier League match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals on Saturday night.
Saligao PI Somnath Mahajik said they received reliable information about the IPL betting racket being operated from a white-coloured bungalow at Bellavista, Sangolda.
During the raid at Malhan Villa, they found three persons accepting bets through online mode on mobile phones and laptops on the ongoing IPL match between RCB v/s RR.
The three, identified as Thakkar Kalpeshbhai Chandulal, Thakkar Sandeepkumar Jayeshbhai and Patel Mayur all natives of Gujarat have been arrested, PI Mahajik said.
Saligao police also seized 10 mobile phones, 12 laptops, three notebooks and three routers, all worth Rs 4.5 lakh approximately, during the raid.
An offence under sections 3 and 4 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act has been registered against the accused at Saligao police station. Further investigations are on under the supervision of DySP Vishwesh Karpe and SP North Akshat Kaushal.
