IPL 2025 LSG vs PBKS: PBKS cruise to 8-wicket victory over LSG – SportsMint Media

For his sensational and match-winning innings, Prabhsimran Singh was deservedly awarded the Player of the Match accolade.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) showcased a dominant performance at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, securing a resounding 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
This comprehensive win was built on a disciplined bowling display and an explosive batting masterclass, leaving the home side with few answers.
Winning the toss and electing to field, PBKS immediately put the Super Giants’ batting order under pressure. The decision proved inspired as their bowlers, led by an impressive debut from Lockie Ferguson, struck early and often.
Arshdeep Singh set the tone in the very first over, dismissing the dangerous Mitchell Marsh for a duck. While Aiden Markram attempted to inject some momentum into LSG innings, his brief cameo was cut short by Ferguson’s pace. The early wickets continued to tumble, with Rishabh Pant falling cheaply to Glenn Maxwell‘s bowling, leaving Lucknow reeling.
Facing a precarious situation, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni embarked on a crucial rebuilding partnership. The duo displayed composure and grit, forging a vital 50-run stand to stem the flow of wickets. However, Yuzvendra Chahal, with his wily spin, broke the partnership, dismissing Pooran just shy of his half-century.
Despite a late surge from Badoni and a quickfire contribution from Abdul Samad towards the end of the innings, Lucknow Super Giants could only muster a total of 171. Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer with the ball for Punjab Kings, claiming three crucial wickets for just 43 runs in his four-over spell, effectively stifling the LSG batting lineup.
In response, Punjab Kings’ chase was ignited by a breathtaking start from Prabhsimran Singh. He immediately put the Lucknow bowlers on the back foot, taking on Shardul Thakur in the opening over. Prabhsimran continued his aggressive onslaught, finding the boundary with regularity and bringing up a sensational half-century off just 23 balls – the fastest at the venue.
Shreyas Iyer provided excellent support at the other end, rotating the strike and allowing Prabhsimran to continue his dominant display. A moment of brilliance in the field from Badoni eventually brought an end to Prabhsimran’s explosive innings, but the damage had already been inflicted. His magnificent knock of 69 runs off just 34 balls, studded with 9 fours and 3 sixes, effectively broke the back of the chase.
Iyer continued to play with fluency and composure, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase. Nehal Wadhera, playing his first game of the season, further showcased the depth of PBKS batting lineup, smashing three boundaries in a single over off Ravi Bishnoi.

Punjab Kings chased down the target of 172 with remarkable ease, completing the victory with two overs to spare. Prabhsimran Singh’s blistering innings was the undeniable cornerstone of the chase, dismantling both pace and spin. Shreyas Iyer’s composed half-century further solidified Punjab’s dominance. This emphatic victory showcased the firepower and depth of the Punjab Kings’ batting lineup, leaving Lucknow Super Giants with no answers on a pitch that had appeared challenging in the first innings.
For his sensational and match-winning innings, Prabhsimran Singh was deservedly awarded the Player of the Match accolade. This commanding performance will undoubtedly boost Punjab Kings’ confidence as they move further into the IPL 2025 season.
Scorecard:
