In the 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will play Mumbai Indians (MI) tonight, i.e., April 4, at 7:30 PM IST at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Following a commanding victory against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), LSG suffered an eight-wicket loss at home to Punjab Kings (PBKS). The team leans heavily on international talents like Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran for batting power. Notably, when one falters, others follow. Captain Rishabh Pant’s form has also been an issue, affecting the team’s general stability. LSG are likely to change their playing lineup for this match, particularly on a black-soil track that didn’t provide much for spinners last season. Akash Deep’s return to the squad will be a great boost.
MI won for the first time against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), owing to debutant Ashwani Kumar‘s outstanding bowling. His speed and swing have provided a new dimension to MI’s bowling attack, raising hopes for better results in future games. Despite this victory, MI’s overall record has been erratic, and they would want to capitalise on this momentum. They have struggled to play away from home recently, with 13 losses in 18 away games since the start of the IPL 2023. More than merely collecting two points, MI’s ultimate goal will be to address and solve its fundamental deficiencies. The five-time IPL winners are well aware that Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav‘s recent problems with the bat have been a source of concern, and resolving this issue will be critical to their batting consistency. MI will also need to work on improving their performance in the middle overs.
