After the dismissal of Jos Buttler, Shahrukh and Sudarshan have taken charge of the GT innings and helped them cross 100 runs. The platform is being set for the launch, but Rajasthan Royals will know that the guys coming after this pair haven’t had much of a hit, except Rutherford.
GT: 124/2(13)
A great start given by Buttler, but he departs. Theekshana is pumped. He has broken this partnership. This looked real close to the naked eye but the onfield umpire was not convinced. Buttler misjudges the length here.
GT: 94/2(10)

Another half century for Sai Sudarshan, his performance is consistent. Just a raise of the bat and a punch of gloves with Buttler. He struggled against Archer but saw that phase through and has cashed in. He reaches the landmark with a nudge into the leg-side.
GT: 94/1(9.5)

A great start by Jofra dismissed Shubman Gill at a low score, but Sai Sudarshan charges back at RR bowlers and keeps the momentum up for GT, and helped cross 50 runs before the end of powerplay.
GT: 56/1(6)
Early blow for GT as their skipper Shubman Departs,  That’s Archer at his best. Even Gill goes uhhh as he walks back. 147.7ks full delivery around off, Gill is drawn into the forward push and he is a tad late on the shot.
GT: 14/1(2.2)

Shubman Gill: I would have bowled first as well. Looking at the past few matches, dew has come in during the second innings but we have batted first here. We are taking it one game at a time and not keeping track on how many games we have won. If the top 3 or 4 are doing the job then I am happy with that. We have had a really good home run and hopefully nothing changes for us, support from the fans has always been tremendous. No changes for us.
Sanju Samson: We would like to bowl here first because of the conditions. There is going to be dew here. Each and every game in the IPL is important, we are greatful of the last two games and take the momentum forward. It is great to be back. It is a very new team, new guys in the squad, we retained six guys but it is a new team, we took time to gel together. The wicket looks really good. Hasaranga misses out due to personal reasons Farooqi comes in.
Rajasthan Royals win the toss, opt to bowl first against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Titan’s top three has scored bulk of their runs with at least one of them crossing 50+ in every game. Each of the three average 50+ with 150+ SR in Ahmedabad. They may have deal with the firepower of Jofra Archer who is in fine form. GT will also have to deftly manage the RR spinners – Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Teekshana.
The Royals will need a big score from their star batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Sanju Samson, which means they will have to stop in-form GT pacers, mainly Mohammed Siraj, from making early inroads. Shimron Hetmyer will be key for RR in the final overs, setting or chasing a target. He will have to find a way to score off Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore.
R Sai Kishore has completely outbowled his senior pro Rashid Khan in each of the four games this season. He has eight wickets to Rashid’s one and conceded only 113 runs in four games for an impressive economy rate of 7.6. Rashid has gone for 143 runs so far with an economy rate of 10.21.
Jos Buttler, who bats at No 3 for Gujarat Titans, is the second-highest run getter for the Rajasthan Royals in their IPL history with 3055 runs behind Sanju Samson’s 3879.
Siraj is the leading wicket-taker in Powerplay in IPL 2025 with six scalps – two each in each of the last three games . He has bowled a whopping 63.6% dots, only behind Hazlewood’s 72.9%.

The teams met twice in IPL 2023. Rajasthan Royals broke the streak by securing their first-ever win against Gujarat Titans in the first clash. However, GT bounced back in the second encounter to maintain their overall edge in the rivalry.

Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals faced off three times during the 2022 season. Gujarat Titans asserted their dominance by winning all three encounters, including the IPL 2022 final, where they clinched the title with a convincing 7-wicket victory.

GT: Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Washington Sundar, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma.

With a run rate of 9.76 per over, Ahmedabad is the second-most high-scoring venue this IPL. But pitch type (red vs black soil) could dictate spin vs pace impact.
With set batters always on, GT’s death overs run rate is 13.31, second-highest this season. Expect fireworks if they keep wickets in hand heading into the final 5 overs.
Theekshana and Hasaranga have led the charge with tight middle-overs spells and crucial wickets. Only CSK has more wickets through spin—RR are dominating this phase.

Bought at base price, Rutherford is proving his worth with 129 runs at 176 SR this season. Promoted up the order, he’s a wildcard threat against RR’s spinners.
Rashid Khan has just 11 wickets in his last 16 IPL games with an average over 46—fans are searching “Is Rashid Khan past his prime?” ahead of the Royals clash.
Jos Buttler returns to face his former franchise, where he scored 3000+ runs in seven seasons. Sanju Samson called letting him go “one of the toughest decisions” of his career.
Nitish Rana and Dhruv Jurel stepped up with game-winning cameos vs CSK, showing that RR’s bench strength is better battle-tested than Gujarat’s underused middle order.
With the top order firing relentlessly, GT’s middle order remains untested, raising concerns about match-readiness in crunch games—a ticking time bomb in T20 dynamics.
Gill, Sudharsan & Buttler have combined for over 70% of GT’s runs—503 out of 715—making Gujarat’s top three the most prolific unit in the league this season.
