Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad shook off injury concerns to lead his side in the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capital at the Chepauk on Saturday.
Gaikwad was struck by a delivery on his arm during CSK’s close loss to Rajasthan Royals in its last contest in Guwahati.
After losing the toss to Delhi Capitals on Saturday, Gaikwad confirmed that he has recovered from the elbow issue.

On Friday, Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey had hinted that former skipper MS Dhoni could step in if Gaikwad missed out.
“I am not sure, actually. We haven’t thought about that [Gaikwad’s replacement as captain] too much. We have got some young guy coming through. He is behind the stumps. He has got a little bit of experience in that role so maybe he could do it,” Hussey quipped cheekily, referring to Dhoni.
