A horror series on Netflix has got rave reviews from fans who have praised it for its likeness to hit series Black Mirror.
German TV series Cassandra is a six-part series that focuses on an electronic domestic helper developed in the 1970s before being re-employed when a family moves into a new house that has been unoccupied for 50 years. After decades offline, the electronic helper is reactivated when a new family moves in, and the series covers the aftermath of what happens when the old meets the new.
Only released earlier this week, Cassandra has already soared up the top ten rated shows from Netflix with reviews flooding in fast and whilst others have been praised for being similar to Black Mirror, it seems Cassandra is the real deal.
Many fans have compared its dark storyline to that of Black Mirror, with many taking to social media to share their excitement at finding a new drama series two years after the last Black Mirror aired.
Whilst Black Mirror is set to air its seventh season later this year, in the meantime many fans are praising Cassandra as the perfect stop gap to watch.
Writing on social media, one excited viewer shared: "I’m so excited to watch Cassandra on Netflix, it seems like Black Mirror." Another added: "Super super excited about this one. I hope it lives up to the expectations." "This is gonna be the craziest episode of Black Mirror ever," said a third.
Another series that has earned the seal of approval from fans of Black Mirror is Oats Studios, which is now also on Netflix. The shorts series ran from 2017 until 2020, and focuses on short stories with each episode lasting up to 20 minutes.
The official description hints at dystopian storylines similar to Black Mirror as the Netflix website states: "Director Neill Blomkamp produces a series of experimental short films that envision post-apocalyptic worlds and nightmarish scenarios."
A fan review on Reddit pointed out that despite Oats Studios being short, it's still worth a watch. They wrote: " "Oats Studios! If anyone here enjoys Black Mirror, Love/Death/Robots, Alice in Borderland, and other series along those lines, you might enjoy Oats Studios! It's agonizingly short, but for what we do have? An absolute delight."
For fans that want more Black Mirror and won't settle for anything less, the seventh season will be available later this year.
Creator Charlie Brooker teased fans about what they could expect from the upcoming series as he spoke at a Netflix event last year: "You can expect a mix of genres and styles. We've got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional."
